Synergy changed my life. Ok, well, not really, not in the spiritual or personal revelation sense at least. I mean that it introduced to a number of amazing people on campus and helped open up numerous two-way streets, so to speak, in which the Dems can provide politically specific viewpoints to issue specific groups and vice versa. Synergy Weekend, an off-campus retreat for student leaders and activists, was all about collaboration and groups working together, an idea that very much fits into the spirit of Dems this year. There is hardly an issue one can discuss in which the political dimensions are not relevant. Hence, I have spoken with leaders of groups pertaining to the war in Iraq, human rights and immigration, amongst others, about working to provide the current political perspective on issues to the groups while simultaneously learning more about the issues from the groups.
As Synergy Weekend proved, and as the dialogue between the Iraq Study Group, College Republicans and other Midd students on Monday night reiterated, great things can come out of collaboration. Come to Pearsons Lounge tonight at 9PM to help begin the research and planning process that will encourage further collaboration, dialogue and awareness on campus.
